I have had the great fortune to start my photographic journey at the age of 7. My first camera was a Diana F and I enjoyed capturing images of the things that were important to me. As a teenager I saved my hard earned money to buy a Nikon FE with a 50mm lens and soon after began to develop and print my own film.
To be honest it was the darkroom that captivated my interest. Learning different technics and controlling what light hit my paper and watching it come to life in the tray never got old. It was a real time killer. I would get lost in that world for hours at a time and often not knowing what time it was.
Fast forward to the digital age, I again have the great fortune of working for Leica in the Professional Imaging division. I get to work with many great photographers and get to shoot some of the most incredible cameras. Many times I think that the camera takes my ordinary and mundane images and evaluate them to incredible. It’s the way the Leica lenses resolve light not just what is in focus, but also the bits that are not in focus.
